Alright, so Ald*n Vacker did a big bad and here’s why:
He’s proud of being a father to two children (yes I said two I did NOT fucking stutter), and he’s had good memories related to parenthood, and so he associates the word “father” with good things.
Keefe, on the other hand, does not. Need I remind you he referred to his own dad inside his head as “Lord Cassius” instead of something less formal? And that’s just the TIP of the fucking iceberg. He associates the word “father” with bad things, but still looked up to Ald*n as a role model and adult he could trust.
And then Ald*n comes to him telling him to back off of Sophie and Fitz’s relationship and support them being a couple if he wants to be a good friend?
And also tells Keefe that he thinks of him like a son.
This is incredibly manipulative behavior. Ald*n went to Keefe with the intention of making Fitz happy via making Keefe unhappy. If he really saw Keefe as a son, then he would be looking for a way to let them work things out with Sophie together, instead of trying to solve it on his own (like Keefe said, Sophie is NOT an object. She deserves to have a talk with both of them together).
Ald*n ALSO knows how sensitive Keefe is about the use of the word “father”, and uses it to convince him to do what he wants. If he really thought of Keefe as a son, there were SO MANY other, better moments to tell him. For instance, after his mom was revealed to be a member of the Neverseen in Everblaze and he stayed over at the Vacker’s house for half the night?
And yet, judging from from Ald*n’s phrasing and Keefe’s narration, he’s never said this before.
Keefe is used to manipulation from his parents to get him to do what they want, and is highly susceptible to it. Ald*n knows this. He knows that this will make him another terrible father figure in Keefe’s eyes and DOES IT ANYWAY.
I think after [redacted]’s betrayal this isn’t an unprecedented development in Ald*n, but it’s still a shitty thing to do and your biological son running off to join an evil organization doesn’t excuse it.
Oh, but I’m not done yet!
After Keefe lost the only person he thought he’d received genuine parental love from, his mom’s ordered Tam to KILL HIM???
I’m really scared that this is going to break him again and lead to him doing a big sacrificial stupid even worse than joining the Neverseen, although I’m not sure how that can be topped.
Conclusion: Ald*n Vacker is a shit father figure and doesn’t deserve rights. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
yknow i saw an article that was like “robert pattinson standing strong against the batman hate! :)” and im like. you fools. you absolute clowns. don’t you know who you’re dealing with? you realize this is the man who waded through all of the twilight hate? with stride? basically brushed it off of his shoulder immediately? even as a non twilight fan in the early 2000s i knew this man would never succumb to the words of the simple minded. batman criticism means nothing to him. he cannot be defeated now. youve cast the perfect impermeable wall. he’s too powerful and we’re at his mercy
